  this tool is fantastic and does the job pretty well, however there are a suggestion id like to give to help improve it feedback wise

  what I would suggest is mentioning it within the menu that adding a "." at the end of your identifier (L R and C) will make it specific to that letter/identifier alone

  adding it to the documentation aswell would be perfect for newcomers who are trying this out for the first time or are super new to blender

  context
  when I was trying to find solutions to the weight painting tools in blender I came across your addon, i does the job fantiasticly

  however when i started using it I had trouble at first with the mirror tools of the addon duplicating the mesh and that was with specific identifiers at first looked got a Python Error turns out its just some issues with my rigs naming conventions, (well technically skyrims naming conventions so my bad for rigging something in that game lol)

  looking at the logs it was checking the R and the Ls in some of the wrong places (again skyrims rig setup) but I discovered on accident i can add "." at the end of my L and R identifier settings at and fixed the issue and allowed me to mirror skin weights 100% properly!

  used 3.6.1 of blender, still need to test some of the other features (mirror plane and direction) so far essentials are working 100% as needed :)

  Upon first trying it I was getting really messed up results. I uninstalled the addon, re-download the *.py and re-installed. Then it worked like a champ on my topologically asymmetrical mesh. Glad about that.

  This addon is a MUST HAVE for any rigger. I wish I discovered it before. Can I request a feature for mirror all, to skip all locked groups? I tried locking some groups, but they got mirrored anyway. Thank you !

  In version 3.5, using it will result in a Python error, and selecting a vertex group separately for mirroring will cause all vertex groups to be mirrored.

  Really seems like a great addon, but is it updated for 3.3.1+? I can't get it to work properly with meshes from DAZ. When applying mirror, it mirrors weights to other side, but for the bone I just mirrored it FROM. The original weights from the opposite bone are still on the bone I'm trying to mirror TO. It does not automatically switch to the opposite bone like it does in your example GIFs after mirroring. I tried getting around it by copying the vertex group first, then mirroring to other side and renaming that copied group to the opposite side, but even though it shows the weight correctly mirrrored, It doesn't deform to the new weights given like it should when posing armature. Have been looking like crazy for something that will help me mirror weights properly with DAZ characters, (all meshes from Gen 3 up are asymmetrical), and this is the only addon I've found that comes close, but would be great if it could work 100%. Hopefully it can be updated or something. Anyway keep up the great work!

  10/10, just what I needed. Can't believe Blender expects every single model to be 100% symmetrical for the standard mirroring to work.

  It works surpsingly well!
  Would recommend for people who suffers from skinning/weighting characters.
