Painterly Shader
Some effects, such as "pointiness" and "cavity" don't work well on low-poly models. However the rest of the effects work fine. High-poly models are highly recommended.
The "base color" node has some effects that are incompatible with EEVEE (pointiness, Ambient Occlusion, Cavity). Use Cycles to view the result.
To use it with EEVEE, you can bake the base color into a texture first.
The "Shader" node is fully compatible with both EEVEE and Cycles
Yes, The node was tested on all versions of Blender, starting form 2.81 and all the way through 3.5.1 and newer.
Although it's rare and that never happened before, but it's still possible that a new release of blender could result in breaking something. In that case just let me know and I'll update it accordingly
