Node Group Parameters Breakdown

Please note that the parameters of the node groups are quite intuitive for practical use:

Global Inputs :

1. Count : Number of points.

2. Compact Phyllotaxis : Alters the point distribution using the input maximum and minimum radii to create a compact, non-overlapping phyllotactic model (only functions with the golden angle).

3. Divergence angle: The angle of the phyllotactic spiral, which corresponds to the angle between each successive points.

4. Golden Angle: Sets the divergence angle to the precise value of the golden angle, producing the pattern commonly found in most plants.



Specific Inputs - Spherical Phyllotaxis Group :

1. Angle 1 / Angle 2 : These angles define the section of the sphere (for a complete sphere: angle 1 = 0°, angle 2 = 180°).

2. Use Scale Ping-Pong : Initially, the minimum and maximum radii are linearly interpolated. When checked, the pole of the sphere has the minimum radius, and the middle of the sphere has the maximum radius (easier to visualize).

Specific Inputs - Phyllotaxis on Revolution Group :

1. Resolution: Determines the precision of the compact model. You'll usually leave it at the default value unless dealing with very large curves (extremely high values might lead to issues due to float imprecision).


I haven't detailed the other parameters as they are logical and intuitive.

Parastichies Group :

Parastichies are spirals that appear when the eye tends to connect the nearest points of a phyllotactic pattern. There are two types of spirals with opposite directions, which is why the node group is separated into two sections, one for each parastichy.


1.  Points : Enter the points created with one of the phyllotactic pattern node groups.

2. n : This parameter will give you different spiral shapes as you change it. Based on the size and number of points of your phyllotactic pattern, some values will work better.This basically determines the number of spirals based on the nth term of the Fibonacci sequence in order to achieve optimal results.


Outputs :

1. Gradient :Output the same value for each point of the phyllotactic pattern that belongs to the same spiral. This is used to create materials that emphasize spiral patterns like here:

 


  2. Curve :  Output curves corresponding to the parastichies of the input points.

Outputs :


1. Normal : Provides the normal vector of the points.

2. Gradient : Yields a value ranging from 0 to 1 at each point based on its index. It's usefull for exemple to create materials :





Adding the file to the asset browser :

-- Go to Edit - Preferences - File Path - Asset Librairies, and set the file path of the file.
