Outdated and overpriced...There are WAY better free tutorials on Youtube.
Hyped product, that's all this is.

The "modeling theory" part is not really theory. It's just bunch of dos and don'ts, and small tricks to change face flows. And the instructor showed those tricks really fast without explaining why and when to apply them. There isn't a systematic way of thinking/strategy when tackling topology problems. I got fed bunch of tricks for arrange topology, but learned nothing about when to apply those knowledge.

Even tough overall the content is relatively good I for love of god cannot udnerstand why there are edits in the video with substantial changes to the mesh even in blockout state without a single work of explanation. I have to literally pause the id and try to figure out what the hell did the tutor do to the mesh in between the video cut because he doesnt even mention it... if you wanna follow along it get very tedious very fast.

Let me preface this review by saying I have not yet been able to view any of the actual content yet. This review is purely for the file names and organization of the series. Based on the previous reviews I'm sure there's lots of stuff worth viewing here.

The organization of this thing is horrendous. I spent at least an hour downloading the files and attempting to sort them into some semblance of an order that makes sense, but even the text document that attempts to explain how do to this is incredibly confusing.

Why on earth do we have naming conventions like part5B_SideB_05_to_06????? I've never been more confused by anything in my life, honestly and truly. Why not parts 1-10 etc?? Why does it need to be this confusing? The amount of work I've had to do just to get this series watchable has been enough for me to just not want to watch the thing at all. I would rather waste this 60$ and never look at this purchase again than spend my precious free time trying to make sense of an insane naming convention with an overly convoluted instruction manual.

Again, I do believe there's helpful stuff in this package, but I've seen this very thing mentioned in the reviews going back 3-4 years now. There has been PLENTY of time to address this common complaint. Please, for the love of god, make it easier to enjoy the content you have to give. As it currently stands, I regret making this purchase. I will keep it, just on the sheer hope that someday I'll find the patience to sort through everything and be able to watch the course in order, but until then, I'm not touching this thing again.

This course will take you from absolute beginner to confident hard surface modeller. There is a truly vast amount of content, and it does cover several different ways of tackling modelling challenges, which I appreciate. Gleb and Aidy do a fantastic job of making a wide and complex topic really approachable.

As others have noted, there is a huge quantity of files to download and you'll want to spend ten minutes reading the overview and getting things organized before you begin. Also, some of the videos move very quickly... it's worth watching a small amount at a time, and frequently pausing the videos to follow along in Blender.

While the content is good, the presentation of the topics I was particularly interested in (topology, sub-d) is simply too fast to be educational. For example, in the video on merging sub-d meshes the instructor spends half the time putting together a freestyle model, then rushes through the actual merging of the model at such a speed that in the end I felt more confused than educated.

This course is brilliant, its scope and the depth of knowledge that been wash into the fabric of it. Truly you can tell Aidy and Gleb know what they're talking about, and they have a real passion for 3D modelling. And if you also have a passion for 3D modelling that rivals the yarning lust a honey badger has for honey and not caring about anything, then you should buy this course and stop reading now.

However, if you just kinda, sort of want to do 3d modelling or you’re new this is not the course for you because it’s not perfect. It feels like a clump of ideas and knowledge like so much exploded microwave porridge. My first 20 minutes with the course was acting as their secretary, filing the files away into the right places and figuring out what I needed to do first. Then when I “started” SideB which is the start of the project (go figure), there was 2-3 videos explaining why they choose to make the robot they did.

To bottom line, it the course content is great, but it needs a structure or a framework that gradually introduces the user into the subject matters. For someone who has been using blender a while, like myself, I knew what I was looking at and looking for. However, for anyone new, in its current form, this course is not for you, but it so could be…

Thank you Gleb and Aidy, keep up the good work.

I did really enjoy this course. I was brand new to 3d modeling and Blender when I bought this two years back and it helped tremendously both on theory and application in my hard surface modeling. Files weren't terrible for me but an issue as others have mentioned was related to the kitbash. It mostly related to applied bevels etc. as well as some of them not being in the kitbash file itself. I was able to pull them from the official project file but it did require cleanup etc. Overall though this was a very valuable course for me starting out. I have thought of running through it again just to see how I might do things differently since I started.
