Very nice shader! Saves a lot of time and makes fun!

Shaders are awesome and look great. I love how versatile they are and how much flexibility can be pushed out of the main Toonshader. I used this tool kit for a long time and made some stuff that I am very proud of. Implementing GPU rendering would be cool, but I understand the technical limitations. CPU rendering is decently fast anyways; I rarely need to go above 36 samples for a scene.

However, the last two updates broke probably the most unique and useful feature of the entire toolkit - the face paint tools. I can no longer create or edit Vector Color Indexes for objects. The menu is still there, just the options to paint faces are gone. Models with preexisting Color Indexes (created in Toonkit 1.4) can be imported into the new version and work fine, I just can't create or edit new ones.

This has left me stuck on Blender 2.91 and Toonkit 1.4, which is a shame because I would love to use the newer versions of both, but the face paint tools are just too useful for me to abandon. Maybe I'm just missing something, but I would love this feature to be usable again soon.

Korben. You will be glad to know that Toonkit 1.7 released today fix the issues with the Paint Tools and added support to blender 4.x
      Enjoy! ;)

An amazing achievement integrating the power of NPR rendering to Cycles. Without this add on you can't do anything like the Shader to RBG node in Eevee.
A lot of reviews seem to be misinformed or lacking understanding of what makes this tool so useful, don't be fooled by their ignorance. If you have a basic understanding of NPR shaders and nodes you'll know just how powerful it is.
I'm looking forward to when this is updated to Blender 3.5 to include the power of GPU rendering with OSL!

I get error trying to use Optix in Blender 3.5. There are not a lot of videos on the features. I think I‘ve figured out enough but without the GPU support I’m limited to smaller projects anyway.

Hi Jason. Unfortunately, the current implementation of Optix in blender 3.5 is not complete. We can't trace rays using it right now and until blender devs add this missing feature we can't support toonkit on GPU

Great addon. Have you considered adapting to the new features of GPU OSL in version 3.5?

Sure! If everything is okay with this implementation, it will work without changes.

Be sure to change to cycle render and everything will work. The creator of this app is very helpful and response to questions promptly. Render result looks great. Love it.

Hi Tomaway! This is really strange. Toonkit is fully supported in latest versions of blender and you should not get those problems in new versions. Please contact us inbox so we can help you and check about it. 👍

at first glance it can be an interesting addon, but when you increase to make big scenes, problems appear. The blender will drop out constantly, after about 10 minutes, the render will also break and it will not appear correctly. Complete trash

Used it for a while it works as promised. There is no need for a complex node setup now that a "Easy Toon" node that does all the work for you. You can add a textures rather easily i can't comment on docs since i never (personally) needed to use it
It is x10 better and faster then using Freestyle My biggest complaint is that it casts nasty shadows whenever there is something behind the camera i believe it has something to do with the global lighting but can't be fixed. even if there is no world lighting just a lamp and a black background Work around to this issue is: Create a boolean behind the camera that to cut holes in structures behind the camera OR
Hide everything that is not being viewed behind the camera
It does not stop production however it is annoying. Still a great software and everything else works marvelously. Hopefully they'll fix this issue in the near future.
